The Des Moines Register has an article about coupon codes for online purchases. A while back, I was purchasing a gift certificate from restaurant.com and noticed there was a place I could enter a “discount code”. I did a quick google once and came across retailmenot.com. A code on there let me save 20% off of my purchase. There is no need to register, simply put the domain name of the place you are purchasing from in the search field and you’ll likely get several possible discounts you can try.
The article listed a few extra sites I was not aware of (couponcodes.com, keycode.com, and rather-be-shopping.com). It is well worth the extra couple minutes to search these sites if you ever see a coupon code or discount code line on an online purchase!
