NPR has an article up talking about Christiane Jory’s book, “The 99 Cent Only Stores Cookbook”.  There are good food deals to be found in the “dollar stores” (whose names vary by region).  With all the premium that people place on ingredients, this goes to prove that a bit of creativity can overcome a lot.

McDonald’s BOGO Drinks

McDonald’s currently has a buy one get one free promotion on beverages.  Monday  thru Friday, from 2PM to 5PM, you can buy any beverage and get a second for free.  This includes their specialty beverages, such as the McCafe lattes and mochas as well as the typical soft drinks.

Grocery Stores Using Receipts for Recall Info

Customer loyalty cards have become a staple of nearly every thrifty shopper these days. The initial intent of these cards for stores was to gather information for sales and marketing. Recent difficulties, such as the peanut butter recall that resulted in 550 illnesses and 8 deaths, have made stores re-think how they can use consumer purchasing info.

IHOP: National Pancake Day

Another deal to let everyone know about.  Tuesday, February 24 is National Pancake Day.  You can get a free short-stack (3 pancakes) from 7AM to 10PM.  IHOP hopes that you will make a donation to support local children’s hospitals through Children’s Miracle Network or another charity.
